AgriCorps Chief of Party in Liberia
AgriCorps is seeking an organized and experienced program manager to serve as the organization’s Chief of Party in Liberia. This individual will represent AgriCorps in Liberia and manage partnerships on a three-year randomized controlled trial (RCT) to measure the efficacy of school-based agricultural education (SBAE) on youth development and rural livelihoods. The Chief of Party will be the primary AgriCorps liaison to 4-H Liberia, USAID and other strategic partners.
AgriCorps creates an enabling environment and builds capacity for school-based agricultural education systems in developing countries in order to reduce generational cycles of hunger and poverty. These systems transform local communities by diffusing agricultural innovations to farmers through in-school youth, as early adopters.
- Primary responsibilities include:
- Manage School-Based Agricultural Education Project (SBAE) with 4-H Liberia
- Serve in an advisory role for the long-term development of 4-H Liberia
- Manage implementation of 4-H Liberia’s SBAE program
- Assist 4-H Liberia in developing connections with strategic partners
- Assist 4-H Liberia in rolling out government engagement and fund-raising strategies
- Secondary responsibilities include:
- Represent AgriCorps
- Attend meetings and events on behalf of AgriCorps
- Communicate regularly with President and Executive Director
- Write weekly report, summarizing weekly activities
- Record all meetings with field notes or reports
- Manage Funding Partnerships
- Collaborate with the USAID Mission in Liberia
- Manage grants, ensure compliance, and submit necessary reports
- Find additional funding partnerships in Liberia
- Manage Strategic Partnerships
- Central Agriculture Research Institute (CARI)
- Ministry of Education
- Ministry of Agriculture
- Ministry of Youth and Sports
- University of Liberia
- United States Peace Corps – Liberia
- Other NGOs and Liberian Governmental Institutions in the agriculture, education or governance space
- Coordinate with Research Partnerships
- Northwestern University’s Global Poverty Research Lab
- Innovations in Poverty Action (IPA)
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- United States citizen
- 4+ years of program management experience in non-profit or for-profit
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant field
- Must have managed budgets
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong teaching or facilitation skills
- Experience living and working in a developing country – preferably West Africa
- 4-H, FFA or agricultural education experience
- Computer Skills: Dropbox, Zoom, Online Calendars, Google Docs, Microsoft Office
- USAID grant writing skills
Location: Monrovia, Liberia, with frequent in-country travel
Start Date & Time Commitment: July 1, 2021; 40+ hours per week. Minimum 18-month commitment.
Compensation: $42,000 to $52,000, commensurate with experience, plus a $6,000 living stipend. Possibility for increase in salary with USAID funding in January 2022.
