Jimmy Lee
PhD candidate in Economics, Northwestern UniversityJimmy Lee is a PhD candidate in Economics at Northwestern University. Motivated by a growing youth population in sub-Saharan Africa, as well as the diffusion of low-cost agricultural technology to rural households, Jimmy is conducting a series of randomized controlled trials in Liberia that seek to evaluate the efficacy of school-based agricultural education programs in enhancing the agency of youth and changing rural livelihoods through a process of intergenerational learning and communication. Jimmy’s research pays particular attention to the interplay of intergenerational social norms and the transmission of new agricultural knowledge from youth to their elders within households.
