SBAE TECHNICAL CONSULTANT
ABOUT AGRICORPS
The two institutions that shape rural life, the school and the farm, usually work in isolation. Because of this, education stays abstract and farming stays subsistence. AgriCorps is fixing that. Through school-based agricultural education (SBAE), we turn agriculture into a living laboratory of applied science, leadership, and entrepreneurship. What students learn on Monday reaches parents and neighbors in the fields by Friday. Working alongside governments and local partners across sub-Saharan Africa, we build the education, extension, policy, and evidence systems to deliver this model at scale.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Government of Côte d’Ivoire has a bold vision for education reform: schools that produce skilled, workforce-ready youth who can drive rural development. AgriCorps is here to help build it.
Together, we’re launching a national SBAE pilot with momentum from the Ministry of Education and other partners to see this succeed and scale. The goal is ambitious: a tested, adapted, government-owned SBAE system that expands nationwide. We’re at the beginning of that journey, and we need the right person to help bring it to life. You will adapt the AgriCorps four-component SBAE framework (based on the American agricultural education model) to Ivorian schools, communities, and agricultural realities. That means creative problem-solving, genuine collaboration, and the agility to learn fast and adjust even faster.
IS THIS YOU?
You thrive in the space between a government meeting room and a rural school’s demonstration farm. You can draft an MOU in the morning, facilitate a lively training workshop in the afternoon, design a 4-H-style leadership competition in the evening — and you find all three equally meaningful.
You have grit. Not the kind that bulldozes through obstacles, but the kind that absorbs frustration, adapts, and keeps moving. You’re energized by early-stage work, where ambiguity is the norm and persistence is the job.
You’re a self-starter who doesn’t need hand-holding, but who also genuinely enjoys building with others — colleagues, government partners, teachers, and students.
