Director of Programs in Africa

Position Summary: The Director of Programs in Africa is responsible for the placement, training, supervision, safety and support of approximately twelve AgriCorps Fellows (ACFs) during their term of service in Ghana and Liberia. They are also the primary liaison with host-country implementing and strategic partners. Duties include:

  • ACF safety and security
  • ACF training and work performance
  • In-country partnership development

Home Base: Ghana, West Africa with frequent travel to Liberia

Required Qualifications:  

  • United States Citizen
  • College Degree
  • Agricultural Education, 4-H, or FFA background
  • Experience living in a developing country

Recommended Experience:  

  • Three years of previous work experience
  • Past experience with volunteer-based organizations such as Peace Corps

Start date: January 1, 2017 with a minimum commitment through August 31, 2018. (May start earlier if available.)

Benefits: International healthcare insurance, emergency evacuation insurance, two round-trip tickets from US to Africa per twelve months (including initial departure and final return), and furnished housing in Ghana

Time off: 2 weeks paid time off for every 6 months in country

Salary:  $30,000 – $40,000, annually, depending on level of experience and education
